Sugaring Hair Removal
What is Sugaring Hair Removal?
Sugaring, Sugar waxing or Persian waxing is a form of hair removal. Similar to the common method of waxing only in the fact that it removes the hair from the root.
Sugaring wax (usually) has 3 main components; Sugar, water and lemon. Due to the fact it contains only natural ingredients, it is suitable for almost everyone!
Quick and easy clean up because sugar is water soluble.
Is it painful?
Everyone has their own pain threshold, but having used both forms of waxing I have to say that sugaring was much more tolerable.
Many people say that after the first treatment, subsequent treatments don't seem to be so bad.
Sugar wax sticks to the hair, not the skin.
Is sugaring suitable for everyone?
There are a few instances where a treatment may not be carried out. Certain medications and health conditions may mean that the treatment isn't suitable for you such as (this is not an exhaustive list);
antibiotics, acne medication, diabetes, cancer and or cancer treatments.
What should I wear?
I recommend loose clothing. Your skin may feel sensitive after the treatment.
Will sugaring stop hair growing back?
There is potential for sugaring to prevent hair from growing back, but this rarely happens with just one treatment.
What should I expect?
You will be asked to fill in a consultation form on your arrival. You will be offered a patch and sensitivity test.
Once the legalities are completed you will be made comfortable on the couch where your skin will be cleansed and a fine talc applied to help the sugar stick only to the hair. The sugar is applied and removed by hand on legs and back. Smaller areas such as lip, underarm and bikini line are applied by hand and removed using a strip. Once all areas have been waxed, any sugar remnants will be washed off and a after wax treatment applied. And that's it....
Why can I still feel 'prickly' hairs?
Every individual hair has its own follicle and each grows at a different rate during a different stage of the hair growth cycle, which there are 4 stages.
During the first stage, the hair is actively growing and this is the perfect time for waxing. Only around 75% of the hair on your entire body will be in this stage at any given time.
Alongside this, we have many different types of hair on our body, from fine to course. Sugar wax finds it difficult to stick to fine hair and the very course hair that would make a beard.
This is why it is recommended that the waxing process is repeated
